Recently, I read an article on “Writer’s Voice.”   The article describes the elements that create a Writer’s Voice.  It also provides some wonderful insights on how to develop your own personal business brand.
A Writer’s Voice
Good writer have a “voice’ or a distinctive writing style that separates them from other writers.  You can describe a writer’s voice as the blending together of various writing techniques that allow a writer to speak in a unique way to their readers.
Here’s what a writers voice includes:
The level of your language.  Is it concrete or abstract?  Do you write in street slang or with the logic of a professor?
What person do you write in? The “I” the “We” or the “They”?
Does your writing sound like a poet or a newspaper reporter?  Do you write in metaphors or write with facts?
What’s your sentence structure? Long or short, simple or complex?
How do you position yourself as a writer?  Are you objective or passionate about what you write?
The article goes on to suggest that if you want to test your writing voice, read it out loud and listen to sounds of your writing.  Or have a friend listen to your writing.  Let them describe your voice.
A Writer’s Voice and Your Personal Business Brand
What can a writer’s voice teach you about the development of your personal business brand?
There is no right or wrong writer’s voices, only unique voices.  There are no right or wrong personal brands.  Your personal brand is the blending of your skills, your training and your experience.  It is YOU.  Uncover the YOU and make this your brand.
Each of us enjoys a particular writer or a writing style whether we read beach books, poetry, professional journals or a favorite newspaper columnist.  We like the way they write.  It makes us feel good.
Customers are no different.  They are moved by a particular style, a specific brand, a certain way of doing things.  They have a good feeling about the brand.
Read out loud your branding message.  How does it sound?  Invite a friend to listen to your branding message.  Ask them how it feels to them.
Conclusion
For your business, there is a particular group of customers that absolutely love what you offer and the way you offer it.  They like your “branding voice” and how it moves them.
Find your own branding voice and use this on your social media sites.
