5 Tweaks to Get You to the Top of Local Search Engine Marketing
Last week I showed you how to place your business on 9 local search directories. These are nine more places your business can be found on the internet so people searching for the type of products and services can find you.
Having a presence on local search marketing sites is one thing. Having an optimized presence is another. In this post, I will share with you five tweaks you can use to move your local search marketing site to the top of the list of the 3-7 businesses that are shown with each local search.

Key words are the fuel that powers the internet. Review our keyword exercise. Select the top three key words for your business. Check each of your local search marketing sites and make sure you use each of these words at least once. Integrate them in various places, your business description, services, products, your specialties. When the search engines find key words on your sites, they will match your business to local searches.
Tweak No. 2—Add a Benefit to Your Local Search Marketing Business Description
People buy “benefits.” Your business description is what search engines show to visitors. For a potential customer to click on your local business site, they must see the benefit they will get from your product or services. Everyone loves a good deal. Google Places allows you to use coupons and offerings on their site. These are free and will show up when your business is displayed by Google Places. Don’t waste this free opportunity to create a special offer or coupon. You can change these coupons every thirty days.
Tweak No. 4—Use Video on Your Local Search Marketing Sites
Videos change the dynamics of internet marketing. Video allows customers to see you and hear the expressions that come from your voice. Videos communicate more powerfully than words on a page. I am not talking about Hollywood productions. They don’t have to be long or involved. Here’s a simple video I did in five minutes. Tweak No. 5–Paid Advertising and Local Search Marketing
